l “Pianist Andrea Petrity leads a swinging trio of bassist Stefano Valdo and drummer Robin Tufts through and impressive set of originals and a clever cover. The latter, a rich take of the 60s classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is both dreamy and impressive. Petrity shows her bop bonafides on the bouncy “Conversations In My Head” and the upbeat and optimistic “Bop Song” while giving a calypso lilt with the gents on “Untilted Two” and lilting with Valdo on “He Said, She Said”. Her title track shows a rich melodic idea, with hints of Cole Porter on the reflective “Falling Out Of Love.” Strong on ivories and with pen.”

l Andrea Petrity – What If I (Self-produced): “This is composer/pianist Petrity’s second release and all but one song is an original. The cover song is “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, a beautiful ballad recorded by Elvis Presley in the early sixties. Petrity is accompanied by Stefano Valdo (bass) and Robin Tufts (drums) on this delightful and warm collection. The trio blends wonderfully and Petrity’s tone and touch are outstanding.”

l “On Saturday night at Studio 64 in Kimberley the Andrea Petrity Trio gave … a substantial serving of straight ahead, no holds barred piano trio jazz. They kicked off the evening with … Leonard Cohen’s Bird on the Wire. The first “standard” tune of the evening done in a very original style was Harlem Nocturne. The rest of the program was filled with a number of Andrea’s originals that included You Took Love With You, a nod to Thelonious Monk in Monkey Around, and a cute interpretation of a Hungarian Folk tune with some nice hand percussion from Robin.”

“What a fantastic night listening to Andréa Petrity at Lolita’s Lounge! I knew it would be good; I’ve been a fan for years, but I never expected to be so moved and utterly entertained by her most recent compositions and arrangements. Andréa’s music always tells a story – at times deeply personal, often playful. Her skill, talent and willingness to share make her not only an exceptional musician, but a truly great performer.”
